PROJECT PINTEREST DAY TWO

Today I have brought to you one of my all time favorite crafts, that I made awhile ago. It is the perfect cute little element to a room, plus its reusing old cereal boxes! They are cardboard 5 point stars! (click on picture to learn more).

I made a whole lot and glued them on a canvas. Now they hang, shimmering gold, on my wall!

This is not the greatest of photos.
The tiny ones in that picture do not look so great, because it was hard to get them to fold in the right way :(. Oh and that is my silhouette! I like to see the finished gold side and the back which was a lucky charms or frosted flakes box!

Come back because I will post every day (for 10 days) or subscribe to my blog! Thanks,

Ty

PROJECT PINTEREST DAY ONE

As of today I am starting a ten-day project, where I will post a craft tutorial that I find on Pinterest, or around the web.  I wanted to do this since I see so many great things but don't get to share them. Instead of having them running all up in my brain. And this craft is a must do for me!:

Can you say buttons? Well I hope you can because today's post is all about it! I just found some DIY clay button tutorials today and I can't wait to try someday.

(click on pictures to learn more/ go to link)

And sadly there are no DIYs for these but it doesn't mean they aren't great inspiration!

I really need to start making some buttons!

Make sure you come back or subscribe to my blog! I will post every day over spring break! Thanks,

Ty

MY SHORT WEEKEND!

This weekend seemed to go abnormally fast. Today and yesterday were just a whirlwind. I am just now posting on Monday! Sorry for the delay, but gladly I made time this weekend to:

  • see the Hunger Games
  • take pictures with an awesome new toy camera
  • Buy myself a new bright and fun North Face jacket!
  • Wear new shoes that match my new jacket (the shoes came first)
  • Find a promising plastic horse that might be painted in the near future!
  • Browse around on Pinterest to get ideas on how to paint that horse!
I love the look of this little horse for some reason, and need to paint it as soon as I can!

I searched around on Pinterest to find some good ideas to share with you!

Great plastic animal hanger tutorial! Found here.

I love the colors and patterns, it really makes the animals something more interesting than plastic boringness! Found here.

This last one might be my favorite. It might be my new favorite blog too! I love the light and bright design layout. But this craft is almost too adorable! To see it click here.

I got ultra inspired by all these and painted that horse, enjoy:

My favorite part?... The cute little silver hooves!

Well at least I relaxed a little on the weekend, taking pictures with my new camera. It uses special 120 film... where can you get that developed? I am stumped! Maybe now you will go find a little kid and steal their plastic animal to make a pretty ring holder, or necklace hanger. Or you could buy a cheap one at a thrift store or something.

I have many possibilities with that small little horse.

So how was your weekend?

DIY IPOD/IPHONE WALLPAPER

I am starting to use my old Ipod more, and I've gotten tired of my Ipad wallpaper. Time to design! I wanted a unique, colorful, and hand-drawn looking one. I also wanted it to be really simple and easy to make! I made a few and you can download them all, but if you read on there is also a tutorial on how to make your own!

Download this Bright Blue Chevron Wallpaper! Here.

Download this wavy Lime Green Wallpaper! Here.

Download this Light Springy Yellow Wallpaper! Here.

So hopefully you're thinking this is nice but you may be thinking"Ok, hey this is pretty neat but I don't like yellow," Or,"great colors, but chevron is my nemesis".  So if chevron is you're nemesis, listen up! You need to get the best drawing app I've found: Sketchbook Express Pro! It really is amazing and I use it to give all my rough sketches a finished look.
Click the paintbrush at the top of the screen, then the fill effect ( the paint can) and move around your circles on the righthand side to get your color.

I love this color, my skin would be lime green if it could... maybe thats not such a great idea though.

To draw your design I chose the 3rd utensil down on the lefthand side. I thought any other colors besides neutrals might just about be prone to seizures so I'm sticking to neutrals from this point on.

Remember, I am trying to keep this fun and not perfect. Mistakes gives it character, rather than the perfect and clear (not unique) wallpapers other people have.

Give it your little signature, those are my initials (obviously).

Now set it as your wallpaper and you have a unique and fun thing to cheer you up when you click the on button! I like alternating all the different wallpapers too! If you need more inspiration, I also made these:

They aren't my absolute favorite, but I do like them. Polka dots are so cute and fun that they pretty much look good anywhere :). Thanks

DIY CLONE YOURSELF!

Okay this is a sort of extremely random and spontaneous post, but whatever. I have been experimenting with "cloning myself", sound weird? Well it makes for great pictures:
Oh yeah, and this weekend I made a shirt (that I'm wearing in all these photos), that basically explains me :).

Trees are just so interesting!

It took me a while to get a nice shot of me on that stupid tree.

I just can't stop looking at myself!

Okay so you might be sitting at your computer saying,"why am I talking to myself". Or you might be saying,"how do I do this?" Either way, if you keep scrolling you'll learn.

First take pictures, moving around in a different spot for every picture. *IMPORTANT*- Keep the camera in the same exact place/position (tripods are useful here). Try not to overlap yourself (never thought I would ever say that) but instead be spaced out. Like such: (they are a little out of order)
About medium

About medium (2)

LARGE!

Small, so small.

Anyways, upload all these onto photoshop. Put them all on one canvas, or you could just duplicate all the pictures onto one photo (whatever works best).
Sorry this picture is really small, but it doesn't show anything too important.

I duplicated them all to one picture.
So to make them all show, you have to delete the parts that block what you want to see. First make sure  your layers list looks something like this, if it has all your pictures then your good to go:

Now click on your top layer. And delete everything around it (with the Rectangular Marquee Tool) IT doesn't have to be perfect but should look a little like this:
All my other layers are turned off but when I turn the next on, it reveals my subject, to look like this:
Now, take your second picture and delete everything around it:
Now it looks like this when I turn the other layers on:

And there ya go! I love this effect so much, and now you can use it too! Also today in the woods I took these amazing photos *amazing faces too.

Why am I so angry?

Now go do some jump shots or something, then be happy, have a glass of orange juice or I don't know maybe even some girl scout cookies! I don't know what you eat but please send me pictures of your results! :)

DIY T-SHIRT!

I pretty much have been going to sleep thinking about what to put on my shirt ever since I got new Iron-on transfer papers.  (I thought that phrase was fitting!) The point of this DIY is show you how to add your favorite or funny phrase onto a shirt! I got my transfer paper at Target for under $10 bucks and it came with plenty of sheets. To make my design I used photoshop, which worked great. The most important thing is that your image is flipped, because when you print it out you don't want the ink out towards the world, but instead sealed under. Was that confusing? Basically it's just so it doesn't come off in the wash!
This was my design reversed and all..

Oh and wait! Before you iron anything on, print out a fast draft of your design to make sure its the right size and all! I chose low ink to print the draft and the best quality to print on the transfer paper. Here's the difference ( I reversed the image so it doesn't look crazy like the one above):
Now cut out your design, peel off backing (lightly score the back with an exact-o knife and it comes off real easily). Now its iron time! Please enjoy my trio of pathetic glamour shots of my iron:
And yet another tip: I used parchment paper even though my paper's directions did not call for it, I just wanted to be safe. I suggest being safe too. Ironing doesn't make for good pictures but lets just skip forward to my result!
JUMPSHOT! (I need help for my addiction)

I'm looking at something, even though there wasn't much to see.

I love this shirt, mostly because its true. If you like this shirt too, print out my design:

Ok so to review the tips:
  1. Flip your design.
  2. Print out your design as a draft first.
  3. Use an exact-o knife to get the pesky backing off the transfer paper.
  4. Use parchment paper.
  5. (not mentioned) But iron evenly, in circles, and make sure to iron the edges well, because they are less likely to peel or come off.
  6. Take jump shots.
Ha, okay if you really follow that last tip I'd love to see your picture! But even if you're not a jumpy-person, I still want to see. You can e-mail me your own results at awesomeartist99(at)hotmail(dot)com .

Thanks people!,
