DIY MUSHROOM NECKLACE

I have been seeing mushrooms a lot lately, which is weird because before this craze came on I truly did have a hidden admiration for the graphic-ness of red and white mushrooms. So I made this necklace last night:

The small second mushroom is hiding in this picture but I thought this was a little cheap and quick way to add some mushroom-iness to your jewelry collection! It is as simple as you probably think it is:

You might have heard about my love of black and white pictures so this explains it:). Anyway, first get a small ball of red, or whatever color you like clay. And get a small ball of white clay. Also get some of those stick thingies that have the stopper at the end. I found them at Jo-Anns, look in the jewelry/ beading department.

Form your red clay into the first shape. It is a sort of thick disk. I don't think I need to explain how to sculpt these though... but once they are sculpted, stick them onto your stick thingy so that the stopper catches it.

Roll tiny balls and stick them on, then cut off excess stick thingy, and roll into a loop. NOw just attach your jump ring, chain, and chain connector and your done! (easiest done with some handy-dandy needle-nose pliers!)

Aren't these just charming? They are double cool because they are small so yea! I have posted twice tonight so I pat myself on the back :). But remember if I'm not posting it just means I'm working extra hard on my next post! Thanks for everyone's comments and critiques about each of my crafts. I read every comment and greatly appreciate it. Thanks,

Ty

STICKS AND CATS

So I've mentioned the woods that are located pretty much everywhere in Ohio, and I decided to go in the woods behind my house just like when I was "exploring" as a little kid. I have been interested in black and white photos this week so here ya go!:

I find that I have become very fascinated in photography! The photographer in my family is my aunt (hey Becca!) and I can only imagine taking the kind of pictures that she takes! The biggest problem I am having is the filtering process, or the bad picture-good picture. With my lack of lighting I try to do the best I can to give you guys some quality posts. Speaking of posting I haven't in a while because I am so busy with school. I just had a big project for my language arts class, and now there is a certain expectation from my teacher for my drawings. Don't get confused, I love to draw.... on my own time. The kind of pictures that I draw for my classes I have to try not to be a perfectionist about, so that I won't be up late coloring. What a lot of people may not realize is the time that goes in to these life consuming blogs! I will get done photographing my next craft, stare at my result for a little and realize it just isn't good. I am not kidding when I say that every day of the week I have tried a craft. I really need to just have a clone:). But more than anything, I can't beat posting on my blog with my dog snoozing at my feet! Sorry I'm writing so much and if anything this is just making people scroll through this but if you read this much thanks!!!  She's not a dog, but she has made some appearances on my blog; to leave you, my cat Agatha:)
So cute...

THE WEEKEND

This weekend was pretty boring, but relaxing. The whole time I felt like this:

My dog Josie

But my dogs are always laying around, and so is my cat. I snapped this picture when she was up and walking around:

My cat Agatha

I did do something a little productive this weekend, and that was drawing some stuff:

Here is what I drew!

A woodpecker...

And a tandem bicycle!

Hope your weekend was relaxing, Thanks

MAKE YOUR OWN T-SHIRTS!

With all the old t-shirts that I have stashed in my closet, I need to start putting them use! To make your own printed shirt, keep reading and follow this tutorial:

1. Get yourself a t-shirt that fits.
2. And a cheap foam brush from any craft store.
3. A pack of freezer paper.
4. Some fabric paint in the color of your choosing.
5. A super sharp exacto-knife (be careful).
6. An iron set on the highest fabric setting.
7. Start by cutting out your design from the freezer paper.
8. Iron it waxy side down until it adheres to the shirt.
9. Paint your design in thin coats by blotting the foam brush lightly onto the fabric.
10. Let dry completely and peel off, it comes off easy so your design is left perfectly painted on the shirt!

I took my love for mod podge to another level by making my shirt using this technique! I used an iridescent paint that gives a shine to my design. I made the mod podge logo and took some pictures of my new shirt with the scenic backdrop of the woods behind my house :).

I also like fun hats but i have a lack of ones I would actually wear out:).

Unfortunatey, I'm not wearing anything very special. After school I usually change into my pajamas so today I dressed up (for me)!

It was a crazy sunny day, which was probably because of Ohio's confused weather system.

This proves just how sunny it was, and by standing by a window this bright glow emerged, and I thought it looked neat!

Hope you liked this craft, I'd love to see your results, so send them to me at awesomeartist99@hotmail.com! Thanks,

Ty

DIY LIGHT BOX!

I have been working on my photography and to all the other bloggers out there, I want to help! Don't spend hundreds of dollars buying "professional light boxes" when you can make your own  practically for free! Here is how you make a simple light box, in only 5 steps to get "picture perfect" pics!( Click to enlarge)
1.Get a box, preferably square and is sturdy!

2.Cut squares out of the top, left, and right sides. Leave a 2.5 centimeter (1in.) border around it.

3.Get about 3ft. of light meshy white fabric and cover the sides you cut out.

4.Cut white foam board to fit inside of the box, there will be a small crease but it really isn't noticeable.

5.Get a nice light or lamp and light over the top of the box, the fabric acts as a filter, evening the light out.

Here are the pictures I got with my new light box:
My nicely oversized watch :).
Some letter beads, I had laying around. Thanks Katy :).

And my header (a little different), that I made with the crystal clear white background, using scrabble tiles. I used a vintage filter on the first to which is why they have a more off-white color.
My elephant:)

I <3 Scrabble tiles. I have an abundance of them which is all the better!
A very important part of this project: the light. I didn't say but I used a flexible desk lamp that works great!

And to finish, LOVE... Happy Valentine's Day everyone. This would be cute as a present if it were framed! Thanks everyone and please comment if you have any questions, or e-mail me at awesomeartist99@hotmail.com.

CAMERA NECKLACE!

Inspired by my new found love of cameras, and respect for photographers I made a necklace. If you are a crafty person you can make this using polymer clay, paint, and mod podge 3d magic for your special someone just in time for valentine's day!

The mod podge added the perfect amount of 3d-ness to the lens! Here is what looks like on the back

Through the lens you see love! Its sorta cheesy but hearts are pretty and add charm to this necklace.
With a microscopic little paintbrush I added some details to the camera.
There is ALOT of scrapbook paper in my basement and now I put it to good use:)

Black and white photos are cool, and using a porcelain cup and a hand I displayed my tiny piece.
Now your hot chocolate mug has two uses!

Add a little reminder of your love for photography with this little pendant! Maybe one day I will open my own etsy shop! Is there an age requirement because twelve year olds should be able to sell :) Thanks, and I hope you like this as much as I do....

DRAWING ON PHOTOS!

I think I speak for a lot of young people when I say, no one looks forward to picture day. No one is excited for it and I definitely wasn't in my kindergarten picture:
I wasn't to happy when I got the pictures back, but now I can laugh about it and I love this picture. I got inspired to doodle on this photo since I am making a teenager face. What do teenagers like me like more than Ipods and listening to music? I am (partially) hipster but I don't like to be called a hipster. You have to admit those hipster glasses are pretty much the ultimate trademark of hipsters. So now I am just babbling but anyway, I used my Ipad the drawing app that I used in my portrait post. Here was my result:

It fits right? I should have worn a hoodie. And the funny thing is that I just remember thinking that I had a big smile. I guess I need to practice my smile in the mirror more...
So I set out on a small task of doodling on funny old photos! Here were more of my results:
Every hipster girl has to have a feather and some earbuds. Plus, I am the #1 supporter of curly handlebar mustaches!

This is my sock-monkey-loving uncle named Tom who runs his own blog about his monkey named Karen, its funny find it here. This photo was taken before the recent sock-monkey craze, I guess he set the trend! *<(:(I)

My parents when they were young, and very not-hipster. With a mustache and green pants my dad is a very bold! Notice they were at a zoo and there are pretty flamingos in the background:). Hope you enjoy. And I will blog soon again!
