This was one of my favorite crafts to make because it is really relaxing just like knitting and crocheting! This is just like making one of those paracord bracelets, except with yarn. I got some neato small yarn just for making these! Here is what you will be making:
These are straight, but you don't need an expert to tell you that making them into a bracelet is as easy as knotting the two ends together (which is what you do..). So the first step is to get some scissors, and yarn. There are some options, for example... if you want two colors you cut 2ft. strands of yarn and tie them together, but if you want one color you cut 4ft. of one color. For the base, cut one 3 foot strip of yarn in any color that you think coordinates with the yarn. You won't end up seeing this strip of yarn though.

Before you start make sure you knot your two colors together...

Ok so now take your 3ft., 2ft., and other 2ft. strand and lay them out.

| Fold right strand over. |
 |
| Put left strand down. |
 |
| Take left strand and put it under the middle strand and over the right one. |
 |
| Pull both the right and left strands until it is snug on the middle strand. |

After about 5 or 6 repeats you can start to see the pattern! Make it as small or as long as you want! Great for keychains or bracelets, headbands or maybe even belts! To end just tie the left and right strands together in a simple knot, and the remaining middle strand into a loop, or connect them to the other loop to create a bracelet or headband.
Once you start to repeat you should start to see the "V" that is created every two repeats.

ReplyDeleteyou need to make one loop on each side instead on keeping the same pattern with one loop. it shoul be left right then left right. i hope that helps... :-)
Deleteyou need to switch sides you make the four with one time bring the right side over and the left side through and the second time cross the left side and bring the right way through..
DeleteWhat re you twisting? If it is the main chord in the middle then yes, you should keep that in one position during the whole thing. If not please tell me and I'll try to help! :)

ReplyDeleteThis is a macrame bracelet if it twists you are making what is called a granny knot, which means that you are repeatedly doing 1/2 of a square knot. To make a square knot the first string over the center changes from left to right with each half of the knot. Google it.
