I absolutely love pet rocks and I am giving them to my cousins for Christmas (they make great presents, or at least I think so). All you need to make these are (of course) rocks, I found that as long as they have a smooth surface somewhere it will work. Plus, you need:
Paint Pens/ Sharpies (any color, but make sure you have black)
Wool Roving or any color yarn
I know this looks really simple...and it is. But thats what I like about it :).
I started with the eyes, just a simple dot , i added colors to each eye so they are all a little different. You can see some pink cheeks are on some of them. I ended up not using the brown rock in the bottom corner, it kind of resembles a moose.
This picture shows me mod-podging the wool onto the rocks. I think it adds so much character to the rocks. I did this on a plastic bag (though I have some uses for those).
Here they are with their "hair" attached and for me it dried pretty fast. The only long part of this project was peeling all the mod podge off my fingers!
These are the close to finished rocks (sorry the picture gives away my makeshift photo booth:( )
This is the final project, after I individually wrap all of them I thought about writing a short little
story to go along with each of them. Please E-mail me any of your results if you ever make or see any cool pet rocks:)
